To add a valance or not add a valance. That is the question. Sometimes simplicity wins. Other times, more is more.
Here are our 5 favourite parasol valance shapes to inspire your own bespoke parasol design.
1. A classic valance with straight edges will always work.

Pick a contrast colour trim to turn plain into perfection.

2. A scallop edge valance can be finished with a brush fringe, a bullion fringe, or no fringe! For extra indulgence, make it a double layered valance.

3. A castellated valance is a new favourite of ours. This shape works best with a plain fabric, but you can play with the colour of the edging trim.

4. A valance made with fringe. We love to use a bullion fringe to make a lightweight, mini valance.

5. A contrast colour valance is always a good idea. If you don’t dare to use a patterned fabric all over your parasol, you might prefer to go bold on just the edge.

Or of course, we love a parasol with no valance just as much!
